The European Commission recently published Regulation (E.U.) 2023/1442 and announced modifications to Regulation (E.U.) 10/2011 governing plastic materials and articles intended for food contact. These changes are set to become effective on 1 August 2023.
Key Points from the Amendments
- Plastics made with salicylic acid or those containing untreated wood flour can, for now, remain on the market, provided an authorisation request is submitted by 1 August 2024.
- New provisions have been introduced, which include new specifications concerning phthalates, including DIBP, BBP, DEHP, and DINP.
